Privacy policy
We collect as little as we can, never sell it, and don't use ads or tracking. Here's exactly what we keep and why.

Who we are
golly.gg is a community that runs game servers and this website. We are the data controller for the information described here. To contact us about privacy, open a ticket on our Discord.
What we collect
If you play on our game servers
- Your SteamID and in-game name, which every game server receives when you connect.
- Game statistics: playtime, kills, distance travelled, and your current character's details (for example skills and whether they're alive). These power the leaderboards, profiles and coins.
- Server logs: the game server software records connections (including IP addresses), chat and admin actions. We use these to fix problems and deal with cheating or rule breaks.
If you sign in on this website
- Your SteamID, confirmed by Steam. Steam never shares your password or email with us.
- Your public Steam name and avatar, which we copy so pages load without contacting Steam.
- A sign-in session: a random token in a cookie (see cookies), plus your browser's name, which helps us spot misuse.
- Your coin history, rewards you've bought, and who invited you (or who you invited).
When you visit any page
Our network provider Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the site and block attacks. We don't run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and no third-party content is loaded in your browser.
Why we use it
- To run the servers and website you asked to use (stats, coins, rewards, your account).
- To keep things fair and safe: detecting cheating, enforcing the rules and handling reports.
- To keep everything working: fixing bugs and keeping the service secure.
Under UK and EU data protection law our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a fair, working community, and providing the account features you choose to use.
What's public
Your Steam name, avatar, game stats, leaderboard positions and badges can appear on public pages such as leaderboards and player profiles. Your SteamID is already public on Steam. Coin balances and history, sessions and invite details are only visible to you (and to staff when they need to help you).
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your data. It is only handled by the services we need to operate:
- OVHcloud, which hosts our servers in France and the UK.
- Cloudflare, which delivers this website and protects it from attacks.
- Valve (Steam), which confirms your sign-in and provides game downloads.
We'd only share anything else if the law required it.
How long we keep it
- Website account, stats and coins: while your account is in use, or until you ask us to delete it.
- Sign-in sessions: 30 days after last use.
- Game server logs: kept for moderation, normally no longer than a few months.
- Server status history: 90 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Open a ticket on Discord and we'll reply within a month. Deleting your data removes your website account, stats and coins; it can't be undone. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Age
You need a Steam account to use our services, so you must meet Steam's minimum age where you live (at least 13).
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and announce anything significant on Discord.
